OLDALE, ADRIENNE AND PETER
Navigating Britain's Coastline - Portland to Dover
Newton Abbot, David and Charles. 1981, First. (ISBN: 0715379348). Hard Cover, 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. A Very Good + unmarked copy which has foxing to endpapers with VG dustjacket which has fading to spine. Presented in rectangular format. One of the main problems of small craft navigation is identification of landmarks and coastal features. Charts, though vital, give only the vaguest idea of the actual appearance of the coast. This book provides a picture of the coast, to scale, from the direction most commonly used. It consists of a series of views drawn from a distance varying between half a mile and four miles out to sea. Beneath each view is a simplified chart of the corresponding area, and guidelines between view and chart pinpoint all the useful identification features. A1F. Very Good/Very Good.
